Designed for people receiving services to enhance their understanding of basic constitutional rights and personal freedoms.

TOPICS COVERED:

• An overview of the Canadian Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms

• A discussion of the responsibilities associated with exercising rights

• Information about what to do if rights have been limited or infringed upon in any way

• The session will be tailored to accommodate the needs of the service provider and the audience. For example, if the service provider has established an avenue for due process, this information can be incorporated into the training.

FORMAT:

• Includes small group activities, large group discussions, and the use of visual aids to reinforce concepts.

• Duration will be based on identified interests and needs.

• The session is best suited for groups of 18 - 22. Support staff are required to assist with the training.
