How were the new Quality Measures 2005® developed?

 

First we connected to our values - they have guided CQL Canada and CQL International's work for over 35 years and remain relevant today. We believe in an inclusive society for all people.

 

Then we spoke with our customers, self-advocates, families, supporters and public officials. We asked them what they thought was important, and listened to their thoughts on priorities and needs from quality in today's environment.

 

Over the a period of 18 months, CQL's Board and staff worked on the design, development, pilot and field testing of the Quality Measures 2005®.  The Quality Measures Design Group of  leaders in our field and the Board met over several months to hear and evaluate various perspectives on quality. Focus groups and meetings with self-advocates, families and providers broadened the point of view we considered. The draft Quality Measures 2005® was circulated among various leaders in the field and CQL customers for comment.
